Build Your Own Battery Activity

In this lab, students will investigate what it takes to light a bulb and apply their findings on their thoughts on what it will take to make electric aircraft commercially viable.

• Test Leads with alligator clips
• Small electric motor with propeller
• Small LED lights
• Galvanized nails
• Bare copper wire
• Drinking straws

• Multimeter
• Wire cutters
• Digital scale

Each lab kit is equipped for 40 students. If the lab is a group activity (4 students), there are 10 of each item. If the lab is an individual activity, there are 40 of each item. As a reminder, each kit contains the materials needed that are NOT commonly found in the classroom.
