Why We Created Navispire: Supporting Aviation STEM Educators

Teachers have a lot on their plates. Between lesson planning, classroom management, testing, and finding engaging activities, there isn’t always time to track down the right supplies or create new resources from scratch.

That’s why Navispire was created

Powered by California Aeronautical University (CAU), Navispire was built to make aviation STEM education easier by giving educators one place to find classroom-ready STEM kits, aviation resources, lesson plans, and instructional materials.

Whether you’re teaching an established aviation pathway or introducing students to flight for the first time, our goal is simple: help you spend less time preparing and more time inspiring students.

Watch Our Story

Built by an Educator, for Educators

Before becoming the Dean of California Aeronautical University and Director of Navispire, Megan Dutto spent 21 years teaching at the high school level. During her career, she taught physics, biology, engineering, and, for the last eight years, aviation using the AOPA High School Aviation STEM Curriculum.

Like many educators, Megan loved seeing students discover new career possibilities through aviation. But she also experienced the challenges that come with teaching a specialized STEM subject.

One of the biggest frustrations wasn’t teaching—it was finding the right materials.

“I always taught physics, but I also taught engineering, biology, and most recently, aviation,” Megan explains. “One of the biggest headaches that I experienced was shopping.”

Finding classroom supplies, pilot equipment, textbooks, and engaging STEM activities often meant placing orders from multiple vendors and spending valuable time searching for the right resources.

When Megan joined California Aeronautical University, she was given a new challenge: create a solution that would make life easier for aviation educators.

Navispire was the result.

More Than an Online Store

Today, Navispire serves as a one-stop shop designed specifically for high school aviation educators.

Teachers can find:

Whether you’re preparing for an entire semester or looking for a last-minute classroom activity, Navispire is designed to help you teach with confidence while saving valuable preparation time.

Free Resources for Every Educator

Even if you’re not purchasing classroom materials, Navispire is here to support you.

Every month we publish free lesson plans, answer keys, industry news, classroom activities, and practical resources that help educators bring aviation and STEM concepts to life.

We also provide tools that simplify the purchasing process, including a downloadable vendor justification letter and W-9 to help schools and districts add Navispire as an approved vendor.

Our goal is to remove barriers so educators can spend more time doing what they do best—helping students learn.

Powered by California Aeronautical University

Navispire is proudly powered by California Aeronautical University, whose mission is to inspire and prepare the next generation of aviation professionals.

Together, CAU and Navispire support educators by providing classroom resources, hands-on learning opportunities, and real-world connections that help students discover exciting careers in aviation.

As Megan puts it:

“We know how hard teachers work, and they are working to inspire the youth to join the ranks of aviation. Our hope is that when teachers think of classroom supplies and support, they think of Navispire—and they think of California Aeronautical University.”
